Release Notes 11.1

What’s New

This release of Resolve Insights introduces the following new features, improvements, and changes.

Duplicate Device Merge

With this new feature, we allow our users to define a newly discovered device as a duplicate of an existing one by custom criteria and automatically merge their details. The fully automated device merger will significantly reduce the number of duplicates when moving infrastructure from one place to another and dynamically recreating an environment.

Refer to Duplicate Device Merge page for details.

Enhanced Authentication

This version provides a completely new way to log in and authenticate within the application. With the introduction of Keycloak as a user management tool, we allow our customers to configure their own way of authentication within the Insights application. They can choose to configure local login, LDAP connection, and use their corporate accounts for login, or configure another identity provider with supported MFA.

New User Interface

Insights also comes with a new look! In this version, we provide our clients with a completely new user interface. The new and modern UI entirely revamps and standardizes the user flows and significantly improves the user experience within the application. It leverages the latest technology and allows us to implement changes and product enhancements faster.

Users can switch between the old and the new UI application anytime with a simple click of the header button.

Refer to UI Overview and the New User Interface sections for details.

  • Discovery: Device discovery details - details, such as a list of credentials and IP pools, about a specific discovery job, are now available.
  • Discovery: Device discovery preview devices - easy identification of successfully discovered devices within the selected discovery request.
  • Discovery: Service flow discovery preview devices - easy identification of scanned devices and successfully collected service flows within the last discovery run.
  • Inventory: Devices detail sharing - users can get the link to the details of a particular device.
  • Inventory: Duplicate devices table columns - users can add more columns and apply a filter on them, to better manage the duplicate list without the need to switch between different pages and views.

  • Applications: IMAN view.
  • Applications: Groups view.

Usability, Performance, and Security Improvements

The following changes contribute to improved usability and performance:

  • Allow customization of the NMAP reachability ports - By editing the nmap_tcp_reachable_ports and nmap_udp_reachable_ports values in the meridian.conf file, the users can specify which ports to be used by the NMAP command when probing an IP address or host for reachability. The defaults are 22, 80, 443 for TCP and 53, 161 for UDP.
  • Allow configuration of the Kafka request messages - By editing the max_request_size value in the meridian.conf file, the users can define the size of the request messages to speed up the backend communication.
  • Enable caching of static resources to speed up the UI performance. Already accessed resources are reused from the local browser cache.
  • Disable port forwarding for not used functionality.
  • Unused code clean-up and optimization.

Tech Stack Upgrade

The following components and libraries were upgraded:

  • Upgrade Elasticsearch, Kibana, and Logstash to version 7
  • Upgrade Angular to version 18
  • Introduce containerization - A couple of the Insights components are delivered in containers. Refer to the Installation or Upgrade guides for details.
